BAMS is an Academy of Model Aeronautics (AMA) chartered Gold Leader RC model airplane flying club located in Boerne, Texas. Our flying field is located within Kendall County's Joshua Springs Park, north of San Antonio (take IH-10 exit 533, to Welfare). For information on finding the field and to see our airspace, click here to go to the map. These two links show the full NOAA or Air Sports Network weather forecast for the field. Another good source for wind information is Sailflow.

If you are a new pilot and want to learn to fly or are experienced (or maybe a little out of practice) and want to check things out, or are just looking for more information about BAMS, please use the "Contact Us" link above. We invite you you to come out to our club meeting on the first Saturday of every month at 9:00 AM at the flying field - everyone's welcome. If you would like to join now, fill out and print a New Member Packet and bring it with you to the next meeting. To check out BAMS' complete flight certification program, click here to see the Guide and here to see the Proficiency Checklist. Our U-Control pilots recently completed a 65' flying circle and invite anyone interested in honing their skills or trying control line for the first time to stop by and give it a try. Training planes and instructor pilots are available on request.
These are some of our recent and upcoming events:
March 16, 2019BAMS will be manning booth #36 (across Blanco street from Ye Kendall Inn) at the Boerne Outdoor Family Fair on that Saturday from 10 AM to 2 PM. We plan to have a static display of RC and U-Control aircraft, at least one complete flight simulator station, and a bunch of give-away balsa planes. Be sure to bring your kids by to participate and join in all the fun; we would also be happy to introduce BAMS and talk about the enjoyment and satisfaction to be found in radio control modeling.
May 19, 2018BAMS' Spring Fun Fly for 2018 raised $1,250 for the Hill Country Daily Bread, enough to fill half of an 18-wheeler with 15,000 pounds of food. In addition to a full day of fun and flying, this event underscores our commitment to community service and giving back to deserving charities and non-profits. October 14, 2017BAMS' Fall Fun Fly was a big success with over $900 raised. Dan and company in the kitchen crew got rave reviews for quality and quantity. A good time was had by all and the flying was great.
September 2, 2017In keeping with BAMS' long history of community service, at the September 2, 2017 meeting, the membership voted unanimously to donate $500 to hurricane Harvey relief efforts in Seadrift, TX. In addition to acting as on-site legal aid to the residents, Dan delivered the donation (along with nearly $250 in private donations by individual club members) to the Seadrift Community Relief Distribution Center on the 5th.
