Welcome To BAMS - The Boerne Area Model Society

BAMS is an Academy of Model Aeronautics  (AMA) chartered Gold Leader RC model airplane flying club located in Boerne, Texas. Our flying field is located within Kendall County's modern and beautiful Joshua Springs Park, north of San Antonio (take IH-10 exit 533, to Welfare). For information on finding the field and to see our airspace, click here to go to the map. These two links show the full NOAA or Air Sports Network weather forecast for the field. Another good source for wind information is Sailflow.

To learn more about BAMS, take a look at this video. Also, check out our YouTube channel and follow us on facebook .

If you are a new pilot and want to learn to fly or are experienced (or maybe just a little out of practice) and want to check things out, or are just looking for more information about BAMS, please use the "Contact Us" link to the right. Check out our introductory flight program - BAMS provides everything you need: radio, plane, and flight instructor. We invite you you to come out to our club meeting on the first Saturday of every month at 9:00 AM at the flying field - everyone's welcome. If you would like more information on becoming a BAMS member, visit our New Member Page. To check out BAMS' complete flight certification program, click here to see the Guide and here to see the Proficiency Checklist. Our U-Control pilots enjoy a 65' flying circle and invite anyone interested in honing their skills or trying control line for the first time to stop by and check it out. Training planes and instructor pilots for both RC and U-Control are available on request.

After many hundreds of manhours of hot, hard work and much ingenuity, a core team of dedicated BAMS members led by Project Manager Ron Royer have completed the realignment and resurfacing of the main runway. This was no mean feat since the runway is 300' by 30' and had to be skinned, re-bedded, leveled, rolled with a five ton roller and then have new fabric installed. There is still some work to be done on the taxiway along with some landscaping improvements - these will be completed shortly. Also, the final alignment has resulted in a new designation: Runway 04. This positioned BAMS to be more in harmony with the other occupants of the Joshua Springs Park and Preserve. Check out the Featured Video for a short aerial preview of the fruits of their labor and BAMS new primary runway. A more comprehensive video showing BAMS complete site including the new runway, taxiway, U-Control facility, and structures will be available soon.
